An American professional basketball team owned by Robert Pera, Memphis Grizzlies competes in the National Basketball Association as a member team of the Western Conference Southwest Division. The team is based in Memphis, Tennessee and their home games are held at FedExForum. Originally founded as the Vancouver Grizzlies, the team moved to Memphis, after the conclusion of the 2000-2001 NBA season.

The Grizzlies celebrated their 10th year of basketball in Memphis in the 2010-2011 season. The team’s fan base showed great enthusiasm for the season. The Grizzlies was also placed 8th in the Western Conference Playoffs. The Grizzlies finished with a record of 46-36. The team joined the post-season for the first time in 5 years in the 2010-2011 NBA season, after their home victory over the Sacramento Kings on the 8th of April 2011. The score was 101-96.

The Grizzlies is known for their Grit and Grind basketball style and inside-out offense. In the 2010-11 season, they had the most steals per game and were the highest scoring team. During the 2011 NBA Playoffs, the team achieved a number of firsts in NBA history. They entered the playoffs as an 8th seed and won their 1st playoff game on the 17th of April 2011 against San Antonio Spurs. The score was 101-98.

With a score of 91-88, the Memphis Grizzlies beat the Spurs on the 23rd of April 2011, taking their first home playoff game win. The team again beat the Spurs on the 29th of April in their first playoff series. The score was 99-91. This was the only 2nd times in a best-of-7 series and 4th time that an 8 seed beat a 1 seed.  The team’s historic season came to a conclusion when they were defeated by the Oklahoma City Thunder in game seven of the Western Conference Semifinals.
